Moments Before Sleep

I love the moments just before sleep, when your body relaxes and your muscles let go, exhaling a long sigh. Your head sinks into the pillow, eyes slowly drift shut, and you become almost trance-like in that lucid, beautiful, half-dream state. I love the soft weight of your legs pressing together, and the silence of your deep, heavy breaths. You begin to fall into dreams and the tree branch scratching at your windowpane fades, the sounds of the wind drift to a far off memory. You are no longer of this world, but of another, far less complicated. And as you leave the warmth of the bed, it is almost as if you are floating, body completely free.
