I came across a beautiful quote earlier this week about standing firm, even in the most difficult of seasons. Such a simple quote, but so important, especially in this day and age, where people are running from one thing to another or trying to ‘get through’ what they can without really experiencing it. We’re often just trying to get from point A to point B, right? And in the easiest, less damaging way possible.

When I think about my life, I’m always in a hurry to get out of the storm. I’m always looking to get my feet back on solid, dry ground. To re-center and find my next steps. I don’t like being in the middle of the chaos. But it’s in the chaos that we truly grow—isn’t it?

Like the quote says, when we stand firm in our difficult seasons, we give ourselves strength. We push through and gain new knowledge. We rebuild. And we realize that we’re a lot more powerful than we think.

As its rains (again) in Southern California, I’ve been thinking a lot about the weather, and how a storm really is just a giant metaphor for getting through the turbulent times in our lives. People will caution you to stay inside, but sometimes you just have to weather what comes in order to get to where you need to be.
