vintage photo of beach at sunset

He made her the sun
and so she became this, rising
each day, filling his world
warmth, light, energy
The darkest parts of him
roots twisted, buried deep underground
stretched out to her, breaking from dirt
and he opened his leaves to her
pulling her in
She was consistent,
waking every morning
loving him through snow,
peeking around rain clouds
to kiss his face
He made her the sun
but now he chases the moon
looking for the same light
from a duller star
