Step Out In Faith And Watch God Change Your Entire Life

Faith, in my opinion, is 20% understanding, 10% magic, and 70% stepping out in fearlessness.

And what I mean by that is this: You can only learn and absorb so much. You can only study the biblical truths, or try to plant your roots in the soil of God’s truth so deeply. You can only understand a portion of who Jesus is and what loving Him really means (though you can try your hardest and for many, many years), added to the little splash of magic that comes in discovering and trusting Him in the first place—but the rest is stepping out.

That 70% comes from finally deciding to put your doubts and hesitations aside, accepting that there are parts of this life you won’t have the perfect answers for but believing anyways, and walking with confidence in the direction He’s set you, regardless of what may be standing in your way.

Faith is believing, yes, but it’s the outward manifestation of that belief that drives you forward. It’s that stepping out that makes what you know in your heart actually become true for you. It’s that movement that shifts the path of your entire life.

I think, so often, we get caught up in fear. To step out in faith seems radical, foolish, dangerous even. We appreciate comfort. We enjoy being safe. We like to fit into the crowd or blend with the people around us; we don’t want to make waves.

When it comes to stepping out in faith, we hesitate. We hesitate because we can’t guarantee the outcome, because we’re nervous that we won’t be able to keep what we have, because there’s a chance things might not work out at all—so we’d rather live an unfulfilled life than risk losing the mediocrity we have right now.

But why settle when there’s a chance we can have infinitely more?

That is the question faith asks us over and over again. Yes, there’s risk. But there’s also reward. And in Jesus, the benefits far outweigh any of the negatives we create in our minds. In Him, we are forgiven and saved. In Him we are given a second chance at life. In Him, everything changes in ways we could never imagine.

When we choose to follow Him, our lives are no longer the same.

When we step out in faith, the way we used to see the world fades behind us. What we were previously afraid of becomes a little blip on the radar. What has held us back no longer has power over us. What we felt limited by has now become barriers easily broken and obstacles overturned.

When we step out in faith, God makes things happen. He makes our purpose shine brighter, our work become meaningful and fulfilled. He brings opportunities to our feet and opens doors for us to walk through, to start over, to begin again.

When we step out in faith, the path that we were walking on completely changes. No longer are we stumbling forward without purpose, but each stride is renewed.

And that is not to say that every single moment makes perfect sense, or that we will never question the trajectory of our lives, but it is to say that we can walk with confidence in our Lord who loves us. And who will never let us fall out of reach.

When we step out in faith, God answers our prayers. And sometimes not in the ways we intended or hoped, but in ways that give us blessings and lessons we didn’t know we needed. We realize what we’ve been missing, we see the truth about who we are and where we’re headed in ways we previously have overlooked.

When we step out in faith, God show us the direction we’re meant to head, the people we’re supposed to engage with, the opportunities we should take to push us forward into greatness, into His open arms.

And this is scary. Because surrender is scary.

But when we trust in the force far greater than ourselves, we find the truth. There is nothing that is impossible for Him, no task too big. There is nothing He can’t overcome, defeat, or conquer. So we must let Him direct us, heal us, save us. And change our lives.
