Finding Yourself, Self-Love

You’re Not For Everyone (So Just Be YOU)

a girl who realized you're not for everyone and should be you

You’re not for everyone. Do you know what that means? It means that some people aren’t going to like the way you live your life, or make your decisions, or parent your kids, or put your voice out into the world.

Don’t get me wrong—it’s normal to want to be liked. We crave attention and acceptance. (And honestly, that’s okay.)

But we also have to recognize when enough’s enough. We have to pay attention to the way we’re worrying so much about being like someone else that we forget who we are.

To some, we’re going to be too loud. To some, we’re not going to be loud enough. The funny thing is, people are going to say something regardless of what we do. So if we spend all our time and energy trying to fit someone else’s mold, we’ll be exhausted and empty.

In the end, it’s really not about what others think at all. It’s about finding our place.

You’re not everyone’s cup of tea. You won’t be everyone’s ‘desired’ or ‘ideal.’ But who cares? You have to stop apologizing and start focusing on what makes you, you. You have to pay less attention to how you ‘fit’ and start pursuing what sets your soul on fire.

You have to think about your light and how you’ll shine it in the world. You have to be confident that you are made for a reason, a reason that others can’t define or replicate.

You’re not for everyone. Because you’re not meant to be.

So if someone says you’re ‘not enough,’ or not what they ‘want’ then smile and say, “Thank you.” Because life isn’t about pleasing people, it’s about finding out who you are and not being afraid of that person. It’s about believing in who you have the potential to become. And wildly celebrating him or her.
